Bejeweled Blitz is another «three-in-a-row» game that has the advantage of interesting graphics, various boosts, and tight integration with social networks, namely Facebook. The game has been on the market for so long that you’ve probably played it at some point. Still, I believe there are some people who aren’t familiar with the Bejeweled Blitz app, so let’s take a look!
I love the game graphics as they’re clear, bright and interesting. They absolutely suit this kind of app, and various animations that are shown after a round are lovely! The very game process is also lively and bright, and there are different effects following almost every action.
I’ve seen reviews where people complained about graphics and claimed that they had been better before the latest update. Since I’m new to this game, it seems that I installed just this latest version, so I have nothing to compare with.
What concerns the latest update, I’ve seen complaints that now the game often freezes and crashes. Also, there are a lot of ads that is frustrating, although you may be actually used to it. The score of the graphics is 8/10.
What is it about?
As I mentioned earlier, Bejeweled Blitz is a three-in-a-row game, and your main goal is to score as many points as you can. One round lasts for only 1 minute, so you should be fast and also wise to get more score.
There are some useful boosts to help you such as increasing the round time, the explosion of dynamite, stirring all the crystals, and some others. The higher level you reach, the more amplifiers are available, so at the beginning, you can’t just use any booster you’d like. And you can only use 3 boosters at the same time. You can buy these bonuses using the coins that you earn in the game.
There are hints available, although you can turn them off if you prefer to find a match all by yourself. The auto hint appears after 3-4 seconds of your inaction.
If we’re talking controls, they’re pretty convenient and simple. I believe there is nothing complicated in the gameplay.
If you’re fond of three-in-a-row games, you may notice that Bejeweled Blitz doesn’t offer something new. The graphics are good, the gameplay is advanced, and the bonuses are useful. Yet the game definitely lacks a story or a plot that many other games of that kind have. Bejeweled Blitz may be pretty interesting and even addictive at first, and the features such as the Daily Spin, the Events, and the Daily Bonus seem to keep up your interest. But soon I got bored as you get to play one-minute rounds over and over.
One more feature of the game is tight integration with social networks which I also mentioned before. If your friends on Facebook also play Bejeweled Blitz, you will be able to see their scores and compete with them, trying to score more points. I’m not a big fan of such competitions as I play three-in-a-row games to have some fun and relax but if you’re competitive enough – this feature is made just for you.
Some useful features are paid, yet the game is free to play. There is even a tutorial at the beginning, although the gaming process isn’t that complicated.
The game is compatible not only with Android but also with iOS so you can get this app on Google Play and on App Store, too. It’s available for iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. The score of this point is 8/10.
To replay or not to replay
As the game is monotonous to some extent, I see no point in replaying. Every new round seems to be a kind of replay itself. Obviously, the more rounds you play, the more bonuses are available and the more achievements you get. I guess if you decide to delete the game and then re-install it, all of your progress will be lost. The score of the replay value is 5/10.
Is it good?
Overall, Bejeweled Blitz is a nice puzzle game that will probably appeal to all fans of the three-in-a-row genre. It has its strengths such as advanced gameplay, colorful graphics, and various bonuses that make the game more interesting and complex. Bejeweled Blitz doesn’t contribute anything new to the genre, and there may be some glitches after the latest update.
