Full Review of Temple Run 2 – Fast and furious II

Action

Temple Runs 2 continues the saga of risky adventures and energetic, acrobatic stunts started by its predecessor. I don’t hesitate to say that it’s that remarkable case when a sequel is actually much better than the original game.

This statement can be backed up by the number of gets across Android and iOS: it advances to the stunning 1 billion mark. Keep reading

Full Review of Cross-Stitch World, Open a Designer in Yourself

Board, Puzzle and Trivia

Cross Stitch is a leading game that lets you create beautiful stitch patterns from real life impressions that you can upload to your Google Android or iOS device easily. Experience the joy of threading to bring designs to life from a collection of over 1000 patterns.

Graphics

The app for Cross-Stitch offers real-life 2D stitches which you can zoom in on. The stitches themselves are cartoony and are more animated than real, although pictures that you upload to the app itself give it a very post-animated feel. The graphics themselves are a combination of camera mosaic super-imposed on a dark, airless backdrop. The rate of this app is 8/10.

What is it about?

Once you’ve got the app on your iPad, iPhone or Android device, you can proceed to choose a pattern for your application and then zoom in either twice or thrice the focus. Use numbers and letters to fill the patterns with the correct colors. You can also choose to have the threads of the pattern of the chosen color highlighted, or you can opt for turning this feature off.

If you make a mistake, select Undo or use the un-picker to go back to the selected color. You will get an alert once you make a mistake and see how many they are. You can also find out where the remaining stitches are and you can also zoom in on this area. Choose a pattern from the app’s collection or get one from your photos or Facebook and name your pattern.

You can work on one pattern a day although with in-game money you can purchase more patterns.

Both Android app and iOS version need a simple drag and tap movement with either one or two fingers. The simple movements are convenient for the game because they work on every touch screen and will leave your screen uncluttered. The controls are updated and rarely change.

Cross-stitch is free, but it requires in-game money if you are to purchase any extra patterns daily since you can work only on one free pattern per day. Cross Stitch cash packs range from 3500 coins for $4.99 to 40000 coins for $39.99. Unless you are comfortable with just a single pattern, you’ll definitely need in-app purchases to buy extra pattern packs. The rate is 9/10.

To replay or not to replay

The game was really enjoyable for me, and I still play it on my phone, although in-game purchases for the pattern packs are quite costly. I find the game quite relaxing and therapeutic. It is also quite easy to adapt to so I never get stuck. The replay value of this game is quite high – 9/10.

Is it good?

I’d recommend getting either the App Store or Google Play app for Cross-Stitch anytime. The app is well-thought out, and it has a tremendous creative aspect to it. I love the game and can spend hours-on-end just trying to create a single pattern. Some of the pictures especially those I got from the internet have resolutions that don’t augur well with the app’s, even when you zoom in.

The app creators give you regular updates which let you enjoy the game without too many bugs. The game is also ads-free which is a huge advantage and make the play really fun. The latest version also has upgraded graphics which adds to the appeal.

Full Review of Dominoes, Classic Puzzle Game

Board, Puzzle and Trivia

Dominoes is a fun and relaxing way of building your mind and logical capacities by matching tiles and scoring higher than your opponents. Play against bots or real players with this free game for your Google Android with Dominoes by Carl Hopf and see why this game has been so popular in history.

Graphics

The app has cool, relaxed 2D graphics which are nicely rendered to give a sense of depth to the animations. The graphics are simply designed with several layers of windows and the main dominoes scene having a dark, smooth background. A large screen such as on a tablet will bring all the windows on one screen. The score of the graphics is quite high – 7.5/10.

What is it about?

The aim of dominoes is to be the player with the most matching sets of tiles by adding sets of dominoes. There are three game modes you can play in; Muggins, Block, and Draw. There are 28 tiles marked with 0 to 6 dots, similar to dice. The player then picks the order of play, and once the double tile is set up, the player can start dealing from the set of 7 that he had opened, packing tiles with similar counts on their ends aside.

If the player isn’t able to add a tile for whatever reason, they forfeit their count. The player who deals all their 7 tiles wins and receives points equal to the total count on the remaining tiles of the opponent. In Block mode, play tiles and get points by having the fewest tiles left. One can also draw when blocked, or play all fives with a Spinner.

Choose your play difficulty level and challenge yourself, play against an AI or invite player online to spar with you, and check your ranking on the leaderboard.

The controls on the Google Play app for Dominoes are a simple combination of tap and swipe. This is convenient for smartphone users who might not have too much space on their screens and may be looking to avoid clutter on their play areas.

This version of the game is only available on Android, although another version by Carl Hopf, i.e., Dominoes PlayDrift is available on iOS too.

The Android app is free but offers an ads-free in-app purchase ranging from $1.32 to $3.17 per item. You can play without the in-apps, but your progress through the game levels may be significantly slower.  The score of this point is 8/10.

To replay or not to replay

Maybe I’d play again if they considered making certain amendments to the rolling and the Random Number Generator. It’s fun to play but looks like some of the outcomes are premeditated. I’d say there’s quite a bit of cheating. The controls are however great. I also like the online multiplayer option. The replay value is 5.5/10.

Is it good?

I like the general design of the app and the fact that you have a wide variety of competitors to choose from. However, I doubt these are real competitors although you might not notice this initially when you start playing the game. There are very minimal ads on the app. Carl Hopf also provides players with enough updates to keep the game glitch-free. The latest version has slightly more levels and has new opponents which make things exciting.

I’d recommend the game as one of the leading versions of dominoes out there but be prepared to be disappointed with the RNG.
